A Fool’s Errand

Bob, toothless Emma, Laura and Margaret

We pulled out of our street at 8:10 yesterday morning after having a couple of neighbors wave us farewell. We took the requisite selfie and Ohio, “here we come”! The winds were fierce and I give Bob a ton of credit for how he handles this rig and tow. It’s about 60’ in total length and it can surely get tossed around.

We stopped overnight at a home with some goats and chickens (they let you stay for free) and they were very nice with a beautiful piece of property in Southern Ohio.

It was then that my cough started and Laura just didn’t sleep well. This morning early she awoke with a fever and aches. So she has Covid and so far I don’t. She has had a very sick day. We will not be able to see my Aunt Marylee in Louisville so that’s a bummer. We have tried three times since October to get here to see my aunt and now a strike out. We are right down the street from her now:( So sad.

So does the trip end here? My blog retired before it even gets started? We aren’t sure. Lots of people are praying and we will decide in the morning. Bob just de-winterized the rig, maybe we were hasty.

I sometimes feel defeated and worn down by “decisions of daily living”. Then I look at my daughter who keeps going in spite of so much hardship and I am inspired.

If this trip is a fool’s errand then I guess we will know soon enough. Meanwhile we soldier on.

Thanks for riding along!
